Somatic Awareness & Mindfulness
"Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.”

What is Somatic Awareness and Mindfulness?
These two modalities go hand in hand when working towards self-awareness and healing integration. Somatic awareness is the practice of paying attention to the sometimes subtle physical sensations within the body and emphasizes the connection between body and mind. This modality allows clients to tune in to their somatic experience and become more in touch with their physical responses to trauma triggers and emotional activation. By identifying and understanding these sensations, clients are empowered to regulate their emotional reactions and create a sense of grounding and stability.
Mindfulness is the practice of being present and aware of our thoughts and emotions. This modality allows clients to become more present and attuned to their surroundings and their internal experience. Mindfulness helps clients develop emotional regulation and self-compassion, enabling them to cope with distressing thoughts and emotions in a healthy and productive way.
My Approach
Anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma can be debilitating and isolating experiences. Somatic awareness and mindfulness offer a way to reconnect with ourselves, others, and the world around us. By increasing awareness of our physical sensations and thoughts, we can better manage emotions, decrease anxiety, and increase self-compassion.
I integrate somatic awareness and mindfulness into my practice with clients who are open to a more holistic approach to therapy. Through guided meditation, breathing exercises, and other core mindfulness techniques, you will learn to identify and express emotions stored in the body. You will also learn to manage negative thought patterns, cultivate self-compassion, and connect with others (and yourself) on a deeper level.
