Attachment Theory

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."

– MAYA ANGELOU

What is Attachment?

Attachment theory is a theory of human development that holds connection and relationship as its central themes. The therapy that comes from this theory focuses on repairing and building healthy attachments within relationships. This is done by examining the clients connections throughout their life, putting an emphasis on relationships throughout childhood and early development. These attachments are essential for healthy emotional development, and can play a crucial role in healing emotional pain.

At the core of attachment theory is the belief that human beings need meaningful connections with others in order to thrive. If we do not receive a healthy and meaningful connection in childhood, our resulting attachment style can create ripple effects which impact our adult relationships, work style, and self-esteem. A therapist that is well-trained in working with attachment can help to heal attachment wounds and bring your system into what is called a ‘secure attachment’. Through the use of the therapeutic relationship, I will help guide you to find more security within your connections with others.

My Approach

I work with clients to help identify and heal attachment wounds. These wounds may have been caused by disruptions in early childhood relationships, past trauma, or ongoing difficulties in adult relationships. I believe in creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe and understood.

Attachment therapy can be used to help clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. By exploring patterns in attachment relationships and building new, healthier connections, clients can find relief from emotional pain and move towards greater healing.

I am committed to working with clients to create individualized treatment plans that are tailored to your unique needs and goals. I believe in the power of human connection, and I’m here to support you on your journey towards greater emotional well-being.
